Sneak Peek: Chiko & Lucy's Wedding at Anran
This peek has taken me a record two days to finish because of of how ludicrously good this day was! It is fairly safe to say that -
This wedding blew my mind.
With Chiko being from Zimbabwe, there were many Zimbabwean influences tied into the day. There was a mini, symbolic, Lobola during the ceremony where the father of the bride was presented gifts to approve of the marriage which was amazing to watch. They were also gifts to the parents of the groom as Lucy was presented from under a sheet after the ground was brushed for her and carpets we laid along her route!
There was plentiful dancing and singing throughout the day aided by the amazing Flame Lily Arts which was incredible to see and be a part of. Alongside more amazing traditions and rituals, there was a mad display of styles going on from all the guests, this really was an ABSURDLY beautiful wedding! I mean just look at Lucy’s dress for example, also note Chiko’s accessory hype, this was a STYLISH AFFAIR.
Not only did I get to shoot one of the coolest weddings I have had the pleasure of being at, but I also made two new incredible friends from this experience. Lucy and Chiko also live in Bristol and we will absolutely be meeting for drinks at the nearest convenience. This is a testament to how amazing these two are, they have felt like friends from day one and have always gone out of their way to look out for me!
Lucy and Chiko - I have no words to truly be able to describe this day and what it meant to me! I guess all I can say is see you soon!
MORE ZIMBABWEAN WEDDINGS PLEASE!
NB: here are just a handful of hilarious quotes I was a party to throughout the day:
“I am marrying an African guy so I thought I ought to get some African shoes”
“THREE MINUTES TO GET YOUR TITS OUT OK?!”
Chiko during the ceremony. If you know, you know.
